Thursday, December 6, 2018, took place the Session: Banking Mediation, organized by the Mediation Center of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova. The event was attended by Sergiu Harea, President of the CCI of the RM, Dumitru Lefter, Director of the Mediation Center and Dr Andrzej Grossman, Principal Consultant and Mediator of the Center for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR), United Kingdom.
The participants of the session were the representatives of the banks and financial institutions in our country, who were offered an advantageous and efficient alternative dispute resolution tool both with its clients and with other institutions.
Taking into account the multitude of cases pending in the courts and the long-term process of solving them, the Mediation Center provides banks and financial institutions, its national and international accredited mediators, for resolving conflicts.

During the session the procedure of mediation was discussed, the main obstacles that banks encounter in the conflicts with clients and the ways out of this deadlock.
Mr. Sergiu Harea underlined that the Mediation Center is working for the business community to solve the conflicts quickly, efficiently and with minimal costs and has the mission to develop the mediation institution for the benefit of the citizens, the business environment and the judiciary system.
Mr. Dumitru Lefter reflected the existing day-to-day situations, with the transposition of effective tools to address the challenges faced by banks and national financial institutions.
Dr Andrzej Grossman shared with the participants his international experience in banking mediation and noted that most of the conflicts solved through mediation were: property development loan, enforcement of personal guarantees following business collapse, debt refinancing, interbank dispute in relation to stock exchange securities.
It is worth mentioning that the Center for Mediation of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova regularly organizes such information sessions on alternative dispute settlement through mediation.
