Workshop on extrajudicial and judicial mediation under the generic “Perception of Mediation”

During this week, on September 10th, 11th and 13th, were held 3 workshops at Comrat, Cahul and respectively Balti Courts of Appeal.

The Workshops in the Regional Courts of Appeal targeted the extrajudicial and judicial mediation and were organized by the Center for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR), the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) and the Mediation Center of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the RM.

This workshop was organized under the generic ” Perception of Mediation”, in order to extend the The National Program on Mediation in the Courts. As participants, there were: judges, judiciary assistants, clerks, specialists of courts and courts of appeal from the country. The events were led by Mr. Dumitru Lefter – Director of the Mediation Center of CCI of the RM, Mr. Andrzej Grossman – CEDR Representative, Sridan Simac – SCJ Judge, Mediation Expert Republic of Croatia, Mrs. Iuliana Rotari- General Manager of the Central Depositary, Mediation Center’ Mediator.

Within the workshop, was given useful information on the phases of mediation, the benefits of mediation as compared to the trial, the advantages of the extrajudicial and judicial mediation process as an alternative to the trial and arbitration process, the procedure of passing a litigation to mediation, related documentation, etc. At the same time, Mr. Dumitru Lefter, director of the Mediation Center of the CCI of the RM, highlighted the need to promote mediation as a method of settling disputes among the society and raised the interest of the workshop participants by sharing his experience of applying mediation in practice.
