Initial training course for mediators, March 22, 2018

The Mediation Center of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova organized on 22 March, with the support of the Mediation Council and the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution from Great Britain (CEDR), an initial training course in mediation. The course had the generic “General theoretical basis” and included the following topics: The provisions of the general and national legislative framework on mediation; Managing the mediation office; Particularities of the mediation transaction and other indispensable documents; Mediation of family, labor, criminal and contravention conflicts.

The trainers of the course were mediators of the Mediation Center, who were among the first mediators trained by the CEDR and, also, the first mediators in the Republic of Moldova. Similarly, Mr. Cojocaru Victor, President of the employers’ representative, mediator of the Individual Mediation Bureau and trainer of mediators, was also a trainer.

The course was attended by representatives of legal professions, officials from public authorities and professionals with experience in other fields. The participants at the course were acquainted with national mediation legislation and trainers shared their experience and dexterity over time.

The Director of the Mediation Center, Mr. Dumitru Lefer, welcomed the students’ intention to become mediators, to enhance the quality of the alternative conflict resolution process and to enhance mediation in the Republic of Modova.

This training program is part of a project implemented at the request of the Ministry of Justice and supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
